...help greatly appreciated.
DH has been unemployed since June, and started claiming JSA in February (we mistakenly thought we had to have below a certain threshold of savings before he could). He got the first payment of £142 no problem at all.
All good so far, and then just as he signed on for the second time, he found out the same day that he had secured a twelve week temporary job. Still good.
I took the booklet thingy in the the Job Centre for him, with the declaration etcetera signed in the back, and the chap said he would receive his P45 within 7 days. This was Monday 25th Feb, and he started the temporary work on 19th.
Fast forward to today, and we are checking finances (as you do) to find that there is an amount of almost £3000 which has been paid into his account from the DWP....
Clearly we are concerned...what is this?
That money has now been ring fenced in an account where it is safe and can be given back.
Obviously we'd be delighted if it turned out to be his money, but having fought with the "press 1 for this etc" system and not managing to speak to a real person, we gave up at 5.58pm as they close at 6pm.
Please could anyone advise what to do? (Be kind, this is a genuine question from two very worried individuals.)
