Hi,
There are about 3 long running threads on this topic at the moment, is it possible to have a sticky or something with the important details on it so these posts don't get hijacked by the same arguments over and over. Just a thought.
Dictionary definition of tax
"A compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers' income and business profits or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions"
My understanding is that this change comes under the welfare reform act in order to decrease the spend on benefits. Similar changes were applied to private lets and social housing are now being brought into line. Ideally there would be enough social housing of the correct size for the people that want it but that's not going to happen. There are areas of social housing that people don't want to live, surely some effort should be put into these areas.
I did read in one the many posts about the entitled society can't remember which one but I remember thinking that it made a lot of sense. I had 3 jobs whilst at university, saved hard all my life and gone without things so I could have the house I want in the area i want. To start with i had to live in a 1 bed flat in a tennement in a not so great area it was tiny and I really wasn't that happy with it but I worked hard spent money doing it and was able to make enough money to buy better the next time round.
I know every ones situatiuon is different, but as many people have also posted we in this country have a very generous benefit system but the pot isn't bottomless ....
