Hi everyone,
First time I've posted here so here goes.
I'm a pilot and for the privilege I've had to pay almost £110,000 on both my initial licence and type rating.
I'm now working but want to know as I have funded all of my training myself (through loans and secured loans) is there anyways I can claim my training costs back or a percentage of them against tax.
The loans are split between a £90,000 training costs and the £20,000 on a type rating to learn how to fly an airbus.
I'm now paid as a contractor via a major airline. E.g. The major airline pays the contracting company and in turn they pay me so I'm not directly an employee of the major airline but I am an employee of the contracting company. (We are unable to set ourselves up as self employed)
I hope that makes sense and thanks if anyone can help. It's a lot of money and any relief would be great.
Thanks.
