Help With Child Tax credit

Hi,

I hope I have posted this in the correct place so I apologise if I have not. Anyway I was hoping someone would be able to offer some advice on our issue with Child Tax Credits. We have been in dispute with them for some time as the figure they have on record for our annual earning is too high and they are not changing it even though we have sent our EOYtax forms.

The case is as follows:

20/07/2012
My wife calls the tax credits office to inform of our earning for the 2011-12 tax year as we had not received a form. The operator asks their questions, my wife answers and the total is recorded at £27985.52 (exact figures taken from tax form)

04/08/2012
We receive a letter stating that we had been overpaid for the tax year and owe them £998. I went to their website & found out that they had not deducted £4000 for 39wk maternity and 1wk paternity.

04/08/2012
I called and spoke with their operator and they confirmed that this was the case but would have to send it to dispute as it had passed the deadline

28/08/2012
We send a letter detailing the above and lodge a formal dispute

01/11/2012
I receive a pay rise and we call to update our figure. A wk later we are informed that we would will now be over paid by £210.38 for this period. We inform them immediately that we do not require the overpayments and that they must stop paying them immediately. They stated that our request will be looked at.

28/11/2012
I call the helpline to find out why they are still overpaying us & was told our request was still being looked at

07/02/2013
We receive a letter stating in the "why are we writing to you" section that it "reflects the decision about your dispute". However the letter does not relate to a dispute but infect an amended tax credits award for 06/04/2012 to 05/04/2013. I noted that they still insist on overpaying us for the period

08/02/2013
I call the helpline demanding to know why they have not responded to both our requests. I was told that have sent a letter out dated 01/02/13 stating our dispute had been rejected and that we will have to pay the money back (Even though we have proved that we in fact earned £4000 less) and that my wife's request to cancel all overpayments for the current period had also been rejected as she was not clear in her request.

Sorry for all the info above, but they are really P-ing me off. It’s seems unreal that they are ignoring the fact that we have proven we earned less than they have on record yet they still are insisting on claiming £1000 back off us based on a figure that we did not earn!!! I don't really know where to take it from here. Any ideas?
