Can we get help?

My partner is currently off on maternity leave with our second child, but returns to work in June ... at the moment we're not sure how we'll afford to get by and wondering if anyone knows if we could get some help?

I work full time and earn just over £27K PA (About £1600 in hand a month) and my partner when working earns about £14K PA and after childcare vouchers (For two days childcare) gets about £900 in hand.

Daughter is three and was cared for by my partners father whilst we worked, we put her into private childcare for two days a week when she turned 3 to get her used to being around other kids. The council childcare is only 2.5 hours a day and didn't suit out 9-5 working hours.

Son was born in September and we expected the same again - however my partners father is now working and won't be watching our kids. When my partner returns to work, the kids will need to go into full time care which exceeds £1200 a month - more than my partner would earn.

We currently get approx £130 child benefit a week, however if my partner stopped working - my £1600 a month plus the £130 wouldn't see us get by.

A monthly breakdown if desired can be provided to show this.

Does anyone know if we'd get some help with my partner working, or would she be better off not working and we'd get more help this way? We privately rent our flat and are doing our best to save for a mortgage - but with birthdays and such every month it's something we find difficult.

Would appreciate some input for others... unfortunately we didn't see my partners father going back to work - if we did we'd have left it another couple of years till my daughter was in school before trying for our second. :(
